CCFC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOINS SAP CANADA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
TORONTO, Sept. 8 /CNW/ – Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC), an international child sponsorship organization headquartered in Toronto, is pleased to announce that CCFC Executive Director Bruce Herzog has been elected to the Board of Directors of South Asia Partnership (SAP) Canada. Herzog will serve as Treasurer for a two-year term.
“I have deep respect for SAP Canada’s international development activities, and look forward to working with that organization to promote its three programming themes: sustainable livelihoods, governance and democracy
and peace and security,” says Herzog.
“CCFC and SAP Canada have a common goal and strategic approach. Both organizations are working to improve living
conditions in developing countries. Both work primarily through partnerships with local groups. This role provides tremendous opportunities to share knowledge and improve the effectiveness of our efforts.”
SAP Canada acts as a Canadian forum and information centre for a membership of 24 non-government organizations (NGOs) and a broad constituency of diverse organizations interested in human development and justice, specifically in South Asia. It is the only Canadian organization to bring
together an array of Canadian and South Asian partners for the purpose of enhancing human development in South Asia. In its home country, SAP Canada has worked on issues including human development, local governance, community
action, strengthening civil society, peace, human rights, and livelihoods.
In South Asia, SAP Canada anchors and connects development activities in the region by helping Canadian NGOs form partnerships with SAP organizations in
Asia for financial support, cooperative programs, learning and advocacy.
“Bruce Herzog’s experience as Executive Director of CCFC will be invaluable to the SAP Canada Board as we work towards the eradication of poverty and sustainable, equitable development,” says SAP Canada’s President Ann Thomson.
Established in 1983 and headquartered in Ottawa, SAP Canada is part of the SAP International network, a registered international NGO composed of SAP national organizations in Bangladesh, Canada, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri
Lanka, with an International Secretariat in Colombo, Sri Lanka. SAP Canada’s Board of Directors is elected annually in June by the member organizations. For more information about SAP Canada, visit the organization’s website (www.sapcanada.org).
