The Role of ICTs in Peace-building: A Southern Perspective Discussion

Different regions of the world are facing conflict situations and ICTs have been used by NGOs effectively as tools for learning, sharing and coping with conflicts. This panel will address from a Southern perspective some of the critical issues involved, including: gender and security, peace building initiatives, role of civil society, conflict management and negotiations, and building online communities of practice.
On February 23, 2004, Dr. Rohit Kumar Nepali of SAP Nepal, Faruq Faisel of SAP Canada, Mauricio Beltrán of Fundación Colombia Multicolor, and Luis Baron of the Centre for Research and Popular Education(CINEP) in Colombia presented on and discussed the role of ICTs in peacebuilding.
